Kirsty Salisbury is an incredible women. Kirsty uses her incredible story to help other people improve themselves through her life coaching business. As a child, she never thought much about her future and didn't have expectations of herself or big dreams, because sadly she was very sick and didn't know whether she would survive or not. Her perception of success as a teenager was to be good at something. Fortunately, this perception has changed over the years, and it has all become about "being true to yourself. Living with purpose and connecting with a bigger picture." for Kirsty. She added that it is also important to be "happy with who we are in life. Feeling satisfied and fulfilled with what we are doing and how we spend our time." This is possible by reinventing herself and career many times, and her ‘idea' of a career is ever changing. Many of Kirsty's clients are middle-aged and have come to her for coaching because they haven't prioritised themselves and lost some part of their identities. It is close to Kirsty’s heart to help women understand the pace at what their industry is going at, that the world is forever-changing so quickly and it is up to them to keep a perspective on what is possible and in the bigger picture to not feel too overwhelmed.
An excellent way to start this is by taking this approach: "What are the three things today that are actually going to bring in business? Do those. Or the three things that are going to build my brand. So, it is identifying what actions make a difference."
Additionally, Kirsty takes the time to sit down once a week to really identify what she needs to do. She also tries to do one thing every day to expand her network, because:
Knowing your worth and building your financial confidence are topics that many struggle with. To determine her worth, Kirsty worked through some scenarios with her coach, researched the industry to set a starting price before she started charging more based on gained experience and confidence. The financial support from her husband was a great advantage because it allowed her to experiment with different fees. Kirsty recommends having a look at the market and simply have the confidence to try – it will be worth it!
Kirsty believes in the same things as we do and champions women who have followed a completely different path in life or overcome stuff and push a little harder, by interviewing them and uploading podcasts. Also, she shares the views of previous amazing women that we introduced to you, about having more freedom and balance in the future of work. People will work more and more from wherever they are, rather than travelling to a workplace. Further, she emphasises the use of networks as referral systems and how important collaboration is these days. Whatever you do and whatever opportunity lies in front of you, "if you get that flattery sense and nervous sense, follow that! Because that is where the excitement is.” She hopes that we will develop an “ability to do things that we won’t regret not trying later.” Such inspiring words to live by!
