Let’s put our hands together for the amazing Sandra Clair, a woman of many talents - Founder of Artemis, a renowned plant medicine expert, a Swiss Medical Herbalist, a PhD candidate and medical anthropologist, a former journalist and historian just to name a few.
The majority of us wouldn’t even know what half of that even meant (us included!) but not to worry as this super woman has some handy tips up her sleeve that will aid you through life. So put on your slippers, grab a cup of Artemis’ traditional plant medicine tea, sit tight and enjoy.
She rejected a safe, secure future moving up the university ladder with a left field move into herbal medicine. She even admits she was concerned as she left the path of security with her academia and followed her intuition. But Sandra is no wall flower and is leading a crusade to better health and a better world for all its inhabitants and she has some pearls of wisdom to share.
Sandra was cruising along very nicely at university but even as a teenager she had a social conscience. Ring a bell for you? Are you sitting on some thoughts of bettering your planet?
She had been bought up in the foothills of the Swiss Alps. Yes, the Sound of Music countryside. She saw and experienced it as a countryside of inhaling natural health. Doesn’t it make you want to go there or at least follow this lady who has lived and breathed this beauty.
She found she did what was expected and attended Uni, until her heart combined with her head, and she made the decision to follow traditional plant medicine. Post Uni she trained as a medical herbalist and body therapist and worked the following decades in this profession. Her apprenticeship began with her Sister Pauline – a nun, midwife and medical herbalist and a connection to 500year old medicine practices.
Settling in New Zealand, Sandra set up her own natural health clinic and later, Artemis. You know the products? They are packaged in cool bottles and containers and in all the Health Stores and pharmacies nationwide. Covering detox, immunity, medicinal teas, women’s health and everything in between to enhance your health without the need for a pharmaceutical emergency quick-fix product.
Sometimes we think if we get off the academia wagon we won’t get back on or at least that’s what we can be told but Sandra is the perfect REAL woman to dispel this myth. She credits her break as a huge advantage of doing the PhD now rather than straight after her MA as she has integrated a whopping 25 years of experience. Her advice sounds like this...
** RUBY HERE** Can I add here my ten cents worth. Don’t rely on someone else for any of these securities, set up your own independence and your own future. Another alert and a bit of Sandra advice,
She is regarded as one of New Zealand’s most qualified plant medicine experts. On a personal note, we bet you’re itching to know what does a leading expert truly do for their inner health. How does she look after herself and future proof her health? She shared...
"I start my day with a daily detox ritual, the Artemis Liver Detox Tea, take medicinal plants during the day that increase mental and physical strength, such as the well researched St. Johns Wort, and end it with the Artemis Deep Sleep Tea" She doesn’t see her grind as work. This was influenced after coming across an Amazonian tribe in her medical anthropology. This tribe did not know a word for “work”. For them, all activities are “life”. In that respect, Sandra sees her career so far of 25 plus years as “full of life” in all its facets from exhilarating, heart aching to rewarding but worth it.
Lets keep this woman in our sights, we kinda get the feeling we will continue to see her pop up with more breakthroughs we could all adopt. Bring it on Sandra!!
